Need advise...96 ls400 drop...
Has anyone ever cut the stock coils on ls400 and do you recommend..Its been contemplating in my mind just cutting the coils or heating them I want to do air ride end of year but rather save money on coils or coil overs....Thanks
Never do that.
Your stock springs have a specific spring constant, or a constant amount of force to compress them by a given distance.
Cutting them pretty much ruins them and is why drop springs have a higher spring constant.
Heating them is also asking for trouble. It could temper the metal making the springs brittle and possibly casusing one to break in the future.

And depending how much you lower it that way, you'll also be looking at dead shocks pretty quickly. Lowering 2-2.5" leaves about 2" of travel in the shock piston, when it bottoms out, bye-bye to the shock.
Wait and do the air when ready.
