My 1992 Lexus LS400 I got today :)
OMG...I drove this thing and was immediatly in love! Then...I found two little buttons I could push...and the stock exhaust rumbled quit nicely. Oh this beauty is getting some work done...increased performance outside...increased luxury inside. She's in GREAT shape...very little wear on the arm rest :-D Shifts great, engine is sound.
Uh not taken at my house lol

You have bought the worlds best car no close seconds I have a 91LS 400 with 289,000 miles and that is small to the ones I have seen with 650,000 miles and some guy in San Diego CA has 1 MILLION MILES on the same engine this what have heard from Lexus techs. These cars are built to last at least 500,000 miles all day long if taken care of. GOOD LUCK WITH YOU NEW FIND. I did upgrade my brakes using akebono ceramic pads new master cylinder and calipers along with drilled slotted rotors what a world of difference. if cost is a problem just add the akebono pads front and rear you will see a big difference in braking.

thanks for the views More pics/vids in the workings.
She does have some mild-moderate shaking on braking...but it smooths out under hard braking...so mostly caused by worn pads. The tires/alignment/brakes are the first things I will be addressing, but the brakes I will upgrade
Well I'm exaggerating a bit I'm sure. It's just the o/d button and the ect pwr/norm buttons No air ride but that's ok for me. I had been sitting on a level surface and the engine was running, I had the gear selector in neutral for whatever reason...had the windows down slightly. Any way I went to take off quickly but was still in neutral so I got to hear the engine roar to 3k. My first thought was "Well that sounded nice" Then I looked later and saw I had 4 mufflers...I love it when stock exhaust systems sound good!
She's in great shape and I intend to improve upon that.

all the ect button does is electonically raise the shift points somewhat so the car winds up a little more before shifting. but you'll lose a little mileage every time to start from a stop.

yup that's all it does...moves the shift points closer to peak power/torque...but hitting the O/D off button does better

That's a clean 92 LS. LoL. When I got my first LS, I also went crazy with the Power, etc. button. I put on power and hit the pedal and I felt like I was going faster than before. But it was all in my mind. Didn't wanna think of it otherwise until a friend of mine informed me that all it does is make the shift points higher...Wish he never told me that.
Neways, not to hijack thread but I have a 91 LS and there are two extra buttons more than a 90 LS that my brother has. 92 prolly has it as well. I think one has something to do with height adjustment and there is another with what seems to be a picture of a strut? Unfortunately both of them don't work on my car anymore. All it does is make some humming noise. Anyone know what those two buttons do?

The ect just makes the tranny more sensitive in general IMO. In normal it takes quite a bit more throttle to downshift than it does in ect. It also holds the gears a bit longer depending on throttle position but at WOT the normal setting will take you fairly close to redline.
