Are you puttin oil on the o ring when your installing filter? You shouldnt have t torque an oil filter. Only a 1/4 turn past snug and that is still hand tight.
Not really worried just thought it was a good deal. Last time I got the gold it was 8.75 or something like that. The denso Toyota filters are quite nice filters much like the wix. I've seen several comparisons with almost every filter ripped apart and compared and the Toyota is always top of the list along with the wix(carquest is also wix FYI) and the nice purolator's.
Rough crowd..
Oil filters is a subject where everyone has an opinion, and IMO Purolator PureOne filters are very high quality. The OEM Toyota filters are excellent too. Wix/NAPA Gold filters - alright, but nothing special.

if you change ur oil at 3,000 miles it doesnt matter..its the extended miles in between that really determine whether u need a better filter. amsoil, wix, purolator and mobile 1 are all top notch filters..but dont tell me its a matter of opinion because nothing is further from the truth. btw when ur rpms get past 2000-2500 the oil by passes the filter so it doesnt even get used when ur on the freeway...again,not an opinion
The wix have had substantially less filter media than the competition for a few years now. They are still quality but not the "best" anymore.
And FYI you might want to get your tranny checked because at 75-80mph highway I'm sitting around 1700rpm's so unless you do 90+ every time you shouldnt be revving at 2500rpm.
"quote, when ur rpms get past 2000-2500 the oil by passes the filter so it doesnt even get used when ur on the freeway. unquote." Is this true? I have never heard of this, and I have been in "automotive" all my life... I must have been sheltered... am I the only dummy here??

I have also never heard of this. I don't believe this is correct. Oil filter bypass valve is supposed to protect the engine in case of a blocked filter or very heavy viscosity, such as cold starts.
