i go more by mileage. but if its that old and you're WAY under the mileage, i'd pull the cover off the belt to see if it's got any visible signals of degradation.

i agree with PD, i would go with mileage. you're in california so i wouldn't sweat it crowe. a quick inspection wouldn't hurt and it's fairly easy.

Final cost: Parts - $612.70, Labor - $438.75, Out the door - $1,112.82. Drives just like it did before. A little less weight on my mind.

Smart move. I have 70k on my 99 and I need to fo the full timing belt service as well.

One week with the new belt, my MPG has dropped and upon starting it idles around 900. I'm getting suspicious.

Not likely related to the TB service. O2 or temp sensor.
