Thanks I appreciate the comments. Sorry it took so long to close out.

Next project will be door lock actuator in a 2001 RX300. Have found the relevant threads and info. Then the cupholder in the LS430. It has no damping on opening right now and I believe it should. Looks like a minor pain to extract it from the console, have to take lots apart to get at it.

A couple of ideas regarding diagnosis of the original vibration problem. I had not been smart enough to put it in neutral at speed. What I finally did that clued me in was to put the car in neutral in the driveway and press the gas a bit to get the revs up to highway speed (approx 2300 RPM). The fact that the vibration appeared during that test made it clear it was not a driveline or wheel/tire issue. With that determination, further research brought to light the potential for engine and tranny mount failures to cause this kind of problem.
