Hi Everyone...

My LS is giving a check engine light. I interpreted the code from the diagnostic box and it gave code 71 (seven blinks followed by one blink). This code means the EGR valve. I called my lexus dealer and the mechanic stated that the problem is not the EGR.

I took out the air hoses that connect to the EGR, after resetting the computer, to see if the check engine light would come on once more and it did. The only time the check engine light comes on is when im driving on the freeway around 65 mph. In city driving, the check engine light does not come on.

What could be causing the check engine light to come on? Am i interpreting the blinking code properly? is code 71 an EGR problem? Any help will be greatly appreciated.
