Audio and Menu ***** stopped working suddenly last winter. I have 98 LS with Command system. When I push,pull or turn Audio button, nothing happens. When I push Menu button, a big LEXUS text appears and tells me to insert a navigation cd.. The touch screen works perfectly. Surely I can manage without these buttons but at the moment I cannot even adjust my clock..Has someone had similar problems? I tried to disconnect the navigation box in the trunk but it did not help either. What should I try next?

 

most of us stateside do NOT have the factory navigation. I don't know of one person who has it. if they are anything like the IS300 navigation systems where are VERY old and outdated as it is, you are probably out of luck as the CD ROM has most likely failed.

my IS300's navigation is useless though i can scroll through the menus. despite having a CD in the drive, it cannot recognize it and complains.

 

honestly if its giving you problems, finding a standard (non-nakamichi) headunit and a regular climate control is probably the best/cheapest way out. The plugs behind the navi are the same as those for the regular CC/HU, just with an extra plug or few for the navi stuff which you can just ignore.

 

The OP is in FINLAND. Navigation was standard in most if not all European countries on the 1998-2000 LS400. The European 98-00 navigation and audio system is very different than what was sold in the Americas -- used a CD instead of a hard drive and the radios are quite different..
