Default 2000 LS 400 Timing Belt Job...Need info!

Hey guys I have a 2000 LS 400 Platinum edition...

I am going to be helping and assisting my mechanic in doing the timing belt on my car....

Could questions...

Whats the best place to get quality parts from that do them in bundles? (Timing Belt, water pump, tensioners all in a bundle etc etc)

What info on the process of doing the timing belt does my mechanic need to know that specific to this car? I need pics and descriptions so he gets it right.....also timing markings for my car are a need to know....

any other details we will need to know will be greatly appreciated!

Thanks again
Turbo

you're better off getting a mechanic who knows what he's doing....

i'm a fan of OEM parts though many buy aftermarket parts that are made in japan.

all info can be found by searching or at least going through the UCF2x FAQ stickied at the top of the forum.

Do you guys know a place where I can buy all the OEM parts I need for my 2000 LS in one package? (As opposed to getting all the item numbers and then calling the dealership?

carson toyota or sewell lexus, both of which are forum sponsors. you dont need the part numbers but you will probably want to tell them what to give you.
ie-wp, tb, wp o ring, tensioner, idler pulleys, etc...)

Sewell sells a "LS400 Timing Belt & Water Pump Kit " for the 2000 LS400 for $311.12 with the Club Lexus Discount.

The kit includes:
•Timing Belt
•Water Pump w/Gasket
•2 Idler Pulleys
•2 O-Rings
•Coolant

I'd also replace the tensioner since it can fail too. I've had three 90,000 services performed on two LS400's and have replaced all these parts and the tensioner each time.

******************.com or Rockauto.com have great parts at great prices. For water pumps get Aisan which is OEM type.

you have the choice to use what you want, I have used these parts on 5 different LS's and have had no failures, while saving a lot of money for myself and the customers
