Default 96 LS 400 windshield wiper problem

Hello all:

My wife called me at work today to tell me that the wipers on her '96 LS 400 stopped working. The wipers were stuck in a position that is about 1/4 up from the start position
.
When I arrived at home, I was able push them back to the start position, but when I turned the ignition key, but before starting the car, the wipers move up to the same position and stop. The wiper switch is set to the off position. I don't really hear any noise coming from the motor except briefly when the wipers move.

The windshield washer works. I recently had the windshield replaced at a local glass shop. The wipers had been working fine, even after the windshield was replaced.

Any ideas on what might be the problem?

David

Default Problem solved

Thanks for the response. I knew the problem wasn't the fuse as the washer motor works.

The outfit that replaced the windshield did not tighten the 10mm bolt on the driver's side wiper assembly. The wiper arm was hitting the head of the bolt.

Thanks again for the input.

I was thinking something like that when I read the problem b/c if it went up a little, it works and the fuse is good. That happens to me in the winter with ice chunks building up. Glad ya found it and got it working right. If there's one thing that a woman needs, it's wipers so they can see and not make thier driving any worse. She's probably thrilled that ya got it fixed, nows the time to ask her for that something you wanted that she always says no to.
