There's a reason DDM tuning has 30$ HID kits... expecting a full range of colors would be retarded at the 30$ price point

8k HIDs, Eagle Eye housings one side high beam doesn't work (****ty company ><) and the drivers side is aimed lower than the passenger (to avoid blinding oncoming traffic). For reference this is about a 3ft high cinder block wall

took some pics of my pattern, which i am frankly not really thrilled about.

setup:
- 97 stock headlight housings
- DDM tuning 55w 6000k H4 (single mode, no high beam option) HID kit

i already had to replace the first set of bulbs since one color shifted prematurely. i am very careful installing them, they admitted fault and replaced them under warranty. the previous bulbs had a more distinct cutoff but the new bulbs have a difference in shield design (crappier) hence the glare you see below.

low beam only


high beam only, since i have a single H4 kit, the low beam HID bulb turns off and the separate halogen high beam turns on. usually the high beam filament on the H4 turns on in addition to the separate high beam.


against the wall at 20ft (sorry my camera focused on the windshield instead). you can see there is actually a left flare which results in glare to on-coming traffic! i get flashed every now and then usually at dark roads when there is only me and the other car in passing.


again, with a different ISO setting.


results: due to improper bulb shielding the light is scattered to on-coming traffic. also since i am running a 55w kit (vs the normal 35w kit) i get more lumens to the road however at times i feel it's too bright (gasp!) but yes it actually strains my eyes more than i would like. if you are always driving dark roads, it's a good kit but around city driving where light and traffic abound, it may be overkill.

 

switch to 4300 or 5000k and you'll get less eye fatigue.

 

I'm still not sure what else I need to convert a '92 LS400. I currently have waiting Eagle Eyes and PHILIPS 4300K D2S HID XENON BULBS. How do I select correct ballasts and conversion kit?

 

You have the wrong bulbs Dubbayoo, unless you're planning to do a projector retrofit in your headlights. Your '92 uses 9004 bulbs and the Eagle Eyes use H4 bulbs. What you need is an H4 HID kit, which will require some wire splicing or changing of your stock harness to H4 plugs...or a 9004 HID kit with H4 HID bulbs.

 

I like to have my Auxiliary lamps Hid, and my headlights stock.
I am a little police paranoid so sometimes I like to be able to turn off my HIDs and blend in.
I had to break out the yellow glass inside the auxiliary lamp because the yellow glass mixed with 6000k hid bulb made the lamps green.

 

uhh except foglights don't have nearly the spread or throw that headlights do....

 

does the 92 use a single bulb for high and low? is that what bi xenon refers to?

 

Yes the 92 used 1 bulb

 

Let me know if you have any more questions Dubbayoo =) I definitely recommend going with 4300k as well.

If your headlights use a 9004 bulb then you would need to select the 9004 fitment if you want a low beam only kit. If you want a bi-xenon kit then you would need to order a 9004-hl kit.
