Default Somethings knocking...

There is a knocking in the rear of my car and i have been told by 3 different mechanics 3 different things. it only does it when i make somewhat sharp left hand turns or when there is more than just myself in the car. i have no idea what it is and i don't want one thing to get fixed and problem still remains. it sounds like the muffler is knocking against the frame with the more weight i add or when the weight is distributed to fast on one side. please help!

carrier arm bushings. adus 505 bushings will fix it. btdt! jack it up. if the arm from the rear hub going toward the front of the car wiggles near the hub, its the adus 505 bushings. i installed the adus 505 and 5056 bushings all at once. both ends of that arm, for both sides. the 4 bushings cost ~$120 shipped

not really. when i changed mine i could tell there had been 0 rubber left on them for a long time. the metal pin the bolt goes through was just beating around in the metal sleeve. search in this section for "carrier arm bushing" and youll find a thread that shows pics of the bushing location etc.. and lexls has a write up on replacing them. these bushings going bad is very common. and lexus doesnt sell just the bushings. i bought mine from my bushings

If it is the Adus 505 / 5056 bushings, a symptom of this is feeling like the rear of the car wants to come around when braking or feels unstable when braking.

no jim, it doesnt feel like that at all. it's just a constant knocking somewhere in the rear right hand side. it only does it on 4 occasions.
1) Sometimes when i first start car. once i hit the gas it'll knock really hard, then gets faster then stops after a few feet.
2) When i put the car in reverse it does that same knock until i put it in drive. once the weight shifts forward it knocks once more then stops.
3) When i make a semi sharp left turn and weight shifts to the right.
4) When i have a passenger(s) in the car or anything heavy. it knocks costantly. sometimes more than others but it knocks none the less.

i have no idea what it is and every mechaninic tells me something different. it honestly feels like my right side muffler is banging against the frame.

What three different things have the three different mechanics told you that the problem is?

How many miles on your 91?

something called a rear lateral arm, another said bushings, and another said a control arm...not sure if that was the same as the first. i just want to get it fixed. it's a beautiful car. i recently had it painted an all pearl white, new tires and chrome rims. looks great sitting. definitely gets attention, buuuut, once i pull off or another passenger gets in with me the cool effect quickly dissipates.lol

all 3 of those things are different ways to describe the carrier arm i told you is the cause. so they all said the same thing, just used different terms. look at this pic for the location of the bushings i mentioned. be sure to do both sides at the same time when you fix it.

just to clarify, this is for 95-00 LS400s specifically, for earlier (89-94) cars the rears are pretty much the same but the front is very different in design

i have a 93 and used the 5056 in the front of the carrier arm, and the 505's in the knuckle. fit fine. all i did for the 5056 is grind maybe a 1/16th-1/8th off the length of the pins to make them slide up into the tabs easier. i put them in like 3 weeks ago and drive 80 miles a day for work and last weekend drove ~300 over the weekend. zero issues.

let me rephrase:

the NUMBERS are right for the years

the PICTURE is wrong, and shows a 95+ car.
