1992 LS400 aftermarket remote start install problem !HELP!
Hi everyone, I’m new here and kind of a *** when it comes to Lexus’s, any help would be greatly appreciated.
I’m installing a 3 in 1 system (alarm, keyless entry, remote start).
I have the alarm, the keyless entry and most of the remote start working, just to be clear its a 1992 LS400 with a V8 and automatic transmission, I also believe has AWD
The Problem!
the remote start cranks the motor but doesn’t start, I had checked online for the wiring colors and locations, most were correct but I was on my own for some, it’s showing that the tach wire is "black" and "behind passenger headlight and air flow sensor in a black box" there are no black wires that I can find, just dark grey. The install manual said that the tach wire "MUST" be connected for manual, does that mean it doesn’t for automatic? Regardless does anyone have a photo they can post of the wire? i went to the lexas dealer and they were no help.
The following is what I have been going by, I know it’s a lot to take in but I like to be accurate that way I get the best answers
GREEN=INSTSTALLED & WORKING, RED=NOT WORKING, ORANGE=NOT INSTALLED
Constant 12V+ White/Blue Ignition Switch Harness
Starter Red/Silver Ignition Switch Harness
Ignition Black/Orange Ignition Switch Harness (very thin wire)
Ignition 2 Black/Yellow Ignition Switch Harness
Accessory Pink/Blue Ignition Switch Harness
Tach Black Igniter, Near Passenger's Head Light
Brake Switch Green/White Brake Switch
Trunk Release Red/White (-) Switch
Trunk Pin Green/Yellow (-) Anti-Theft Module by Fuse/Relay Panel
Parking Lights Dark Green Steering Column Black Connector
Head Lamp Red/Orange (-) Steering Column Black Connector
Hood Pin Green/White (-) Anti-Theft Module by Fuse/Relay Panel
Factory Disarm Disarms w/Unlock
Door Trigger Red/White (-) Driver's Kick Panel White Connector
Door Lock Green/Yellow (-) Driver's Kick Panel Blue Connector
Door Unlock Green (-)
Horn Wire Green/Red (-) Steering Column Black Connector

I'll agree with no AWD.
The only input I can give on this is, when you say "install manual said that the tach wire "MUST" be connected for manual" It can't be for a manual transmission b/c they are illegal to install on a manual car. Not saying it can't be done, I had one on my Grand Prix and forgot to take it out of gear one night, started it in the morning and it drove into the back wall of the garage.
I can laugh about it now. (It's my X-wife's garage now.) Good luck with the install.
