Default Intercooler Placement

Gang,

I have a problem. The problem is finding a space for intercooler placement. Here are my choices:

1. FMIC: For FMIC. The intercooler must be 30" x 6" x 3" unless i remove both of the AC fans. If I remove the AC fans, than the AC would over heat. That is not good. Unless i can find other ways, AC fans will not be removed. This IC will fit under the front bumper. I believe the size of the IC would not handle more than 300 rwhp. I would like to put in a bigger IC so we dont have to upgrade again in the future.

2. Water/Air: Second option is having a Water/Air (W/A) intercooler. It will be placed in the passanger side of the car near the foot rest. The problem with w/a is once the water gets hot, the intercooler is not effecient anymore. w/a is great for drag. ie. All out racing for a less than 15 seconds.

3. TMIC: Third option is place the IC ontop of the engine. If TMIC is used, the hood need to be cut and put in a Crowl scoop. Heat Soaking will be taken care of by using thermal blanket under the IC. TMIC with hood modifications, it just make the cruiser look too aggressive

4. LMIC: Low mount IC is placing it under the engine. I think this is the best method. If you car is lowered, this can be a problem for you.

What do u think? Any suggestion would be great help.

I have no solution for this but I will probably use bigger intercooler since it would fit under my replacement bumper. You can call that guy in E.L. He did the setup once so he can probably give you some tips on this.

Default A/C intercooling

Why not use the extra capacity of the A/C to cool the incoming airflow, as an intercooler. Many of today's vehicles have dual, front passenger and back passenger, A/C evaporator cores.
