Default 2000 LS400 Steering Hard And gets Harder while driving

Hi,

Guys I have recently changed my tyres and rims to 245/45/18
And done the wheel allighnment also. Now my steering wheel is very hard to turn. Also I flushed the all power steering oil and also put my car on jacks to check if its wheels are causing this, but no, Its hard while on jacks also. Don't know what to do.
And also there is no leaks and no noise in the power steering. Is the alighnment guy did something, any suggestions. Note that some times it becomes ok also.

Thanks In Advance.

Have you cleaned the rack solenoid filter? as it sounds like a line pressure issue i.e. something blocked/clogged, is the serpentine belt tension correct even though it is auto tensioned, make sure the correct fluid is in there.bleed the system again.
Check all the suspension joints for stiffness (top and bottom swivel joints)
last resort is a defective pump or rack

u can check for a blockage in the lines by disconnecting ur return line at the pump and it should flow freely,if it spits and sputters there is blockage like u ate a ton of cheese the night before

x2...I think you need to drain what you've put in.

In my Volvos and now in my Lexus I've found them all to use dexron III/mercon spec for power steering. It's in the manual too.

I have heard that type 4 is backwards compatible with type 3.

toyota t-iv is backwards compatible with toyota t-ii and tiii, but these are NOT the same as Dexron 3/mercon spec fluid in ANY WAY.

Oh that's very good to know...especially if you are draining your transmission fluid and refilling::

Thanks!
