Default changed radiator ls400 1990

bought a new radiator from ebay for 80$ and just installed it.
couldnt believe how dirty and ugly the old one was. so had to take a pic of it.
also installed a new power steering pump.. so much easier with the radiator out.

yea thats why when u actually flush ur coolant. its best to remove 2 12mm bolts and a couple clamps to remove the rad and clean it with your garden hose.

I used a car wash and pressure washed that thing. It died 9 months later when the top tank had a minor crack that just got worse over time.

It's really dirty from that foam insulator thing that goes around the mouth of the radiator.

I recently visted a tech at crown lexus in Ontario Ca and he showed me how to remove the rubber between the radiator and air cond condensor and my was half full of dirt I had to pick it out for 2 hours and high powered sprayed in a $2.00 car wash and now it's clean so if you have 100-200,000 miles check down in between the radiator and air condensor for dirt like you see above my was the same my radiator is still working ok so far I use toyota red fluid antifreez and distilled water 50/50 I drain my block and radiator every 2 years and with 241,000 miles I have all the same hoses and radiator I do check it often due to age . Remember you have to cool the transmission and engine and if your radiator looks like the one above expect PROBLEMS OF OVER HEATING BOTH.

I have seen 2 instance of radiators looking almost that bad on the LS models my family owns. My initial reaction was that it looked as if they had been in a flood!!

A radiator looking like this also can cause over heating especially in the summer time with or without A/C on.
