I have not really thought about selling it but what kind of money do you think it could fetch?

Fuel becomes varnish when it sits in a tank for ten years and rubber rots. The choice was also precautionary. Wanted the car to drive like it was brand new.

If you plug the numbers into kbb.com, it values your 98 LS400 at about $8500 in a private party sale -- and I've found that Kelly's valuations are usually unrealistically high. It is possible of course that you might find somebody that really wants a low mileage 12 year old LS400 enough to pay a premium for it.

Due to it's low miles, it is extremely unlikely that any of the TSIB's were applied to it when it was under it's original 50K/4 year basic warranty. The cost of paying for all that TSIB work (steering column, instrument cluster, fuel level sending unit, etc.) out of pocket today at retail would cost thousands of $$$.

This car is likely worth much more to you than anybody else, particularly since your father works at a Lexus dealership and may be able to get deals on repairs. This sounds like a car to keep in the family and pass around to family members as the years pass.

for the 5011th time how much did you get it for? Knowing dealerships not much. Awesome find i would love to have what is basically a new car for a really cheap price.
If it was put on ebay i'de say it would get 14-16k and you never know if a bidding war happens. I base that on a 92 ls400 that had like 13k original miles it sold for 12k. You cant really look at kbb or nada with such rare low milage and kbb is actually usually low.

You said it had no keys did she find them? i know thats a real expensive process to get new keys.

The car was purchased for $3,000 and another $3,000 was spent on bringing it back to life. As far as the keys thing is concerned they had to get new ones.

WHAT THE ......???? $3000 DOLLARS? THAT'S IT???? ....ARE YOU KIDDING?? ....I'm appalled!!! A brand new LS400 with 994 miles, that was once 60k dollars, for $3k!!! That's like jackpot. Enjoy that car man, you got over 300k miles to go, if taken care of.

There was a 430 sitting outside the place I had lunch last week. I really couldn't tell the year but the guy who owned it finally showed up. It was an immaculate showroom car. Every known option lexus had. Two minutes into the conversation the guy tells me its a 2001 with 8000 miles on it. I offered to buy it on the spot but he said no. He has changed the oil 15 times and has all records. Car comes out of North Carolina ..was bought at Hendricks Lexus by him new. Unbelievable.

Congratulations on a very nice score. I hope your transmission fluid, differential fluid, power steering fluid, brake fluid, and windshield washer fluids are new and fresh.
