"New" 98 LS400. Drive home, hood struts
I picked up my 98 bronze ls last FR and drove 550 miles home from CO to S. NM. The car has (now!) 75k miles. The previous owner had a stack of receipts. Oil changes every 3k miles. Timing and serp belts done. Tranny and fluid changed. Tune up/spark plugs. I'd give the interior a 9 out of 10 if 10 is new. The seats have some spider line wear. I'd give he exterior an 8.8. There are some swirl marks. The car went through the carwash. I had to explain to my wife not EVERYBODY hand washes their car al winter like me!
I think I can detail this stuff and improve it to a 9.5 inside / 9 outside. I'm very picky. From 10 feet away the car looks new. Everything works as new.
The drive home was a blast! This car is a WONDERFUL highway cruiser, and that's 90% of my driving right now. Handles better than I expected on canyon roads. The engine is velvet smooth. Got 29mpg on the highway! Very comfortable. All in all I'm delighted. Paid $9800. She was asking $12k which of course was high.
Oe thing the car needs she didn't disclose is hood struts. (maybe she never went under the hood but her mechanic certainly did) I've seen some of the threads and did some searching. Can't find Strong arm struts for this year. Autozone lists Mighty Lift struts on their site. Parts Avenue on eBay has tones of positive reviews. Anybody use these?
Thx for the comments.

I replaced my OEM hood struts on my `99LS with Parts ave.Ebay. What I didn`t like is that when the hood opens up, it comes to a very abrupt stop at the last few inches of travel and then last few inches finishes smoothly. OEM were smooth the whole way up without jerking, but wouldn`t stay up in cold weather.
