Default 1998 ls400 hi-speed run

the guys i ride road bikes with went on a 1000km road rage on the weekend (15 bikes, all current sports bikes).. i decided to take my LS along to give it a proper workout... and workout it got... firstly, it hates dirt roads, understeers everywhere, it hates bumpy windy roads even thou it has heavy duty bilsiens, in fact, it hated everything... its not a sports car and doesnt like being driven like one... the only thing it liked was a 70 km section of winding, undulating 160-220kmh road where no brakes were used, as oproaching a bend, drop it back to 4th, foot to the boards, 6,000rpm, click it into 5th up to 220kmh aproaching another bend, back to 4th, wind it up to 6,000rpm into 5th..... now THAT IT DID LIKE... no braking, constant hi speed and no bumps.... it was a real hoot... i had a dozen or so bikes in front of me so i wasnt worried about cops.... YIHHHAAARRR !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
... the only issue was 2 hours from home i lost the power steering.. pulled into a service station and the oil in the resovoir was really airated and bubbling and fast dripping under the radiator area.... i'll put it up on the hoist tomorrow to investigate.... Anyway i had a top weekend ..

sounds like a leak in the PS introducing air into the system.

sounds like fun, this was on a closed off road right?

i guess the handling went down from 93 to 98... my car is nice in the corners after you get the weight shifted... Use some throttle to deal with under-steer, stay out of the brakes in the corner get all your braking done before the corner so that you don't dip the front end...

Sounds like a blast. Glad to hear what the car is capable of.

In Toyotas defense I don't believe they accounted for the type of 'sprited' driving that would require a better cooling system for the PS.

closed off road ?.... hell no, this was in central new south wales in australia....
.. and it was a once only thing.... now i have that out of my system... i just wanted to see what it was and wasnt capible of....
.... so its possible the PS oil overheated ?.... it was VERY hot when i took the cap off.... but its not likely the car will ever be driven like that again so i'll just fix it and forget about it......
