Default LS's turtle speed..

Man, I'm kinda pissed, I just wrote like a 6 paragraph post and accidentally closed the window and lost it all...ehhh..here's my second attempt..

I've been on these forums for a while now, and have read alot about performance issues from different people on the LS. So here's the question we've all heard before..

What can I do to make my LS faster? I'm actually thinking of getting rid of m LS for speeds sake..

I recently rode in my boss's 1998 Audi A6 2.7 Turbo, which is about a 6 second 0-60 car. After getting back into my LS and waiting 9 or so seconds to get to 60 I felt more inclined to do somethin about the performance. I am aware that the LS was not built for low end speed and racing, but it's nice to have a car which can get up and go. Think about it, the new LS does 60 in 6.5 or so. Why can't the old one?

Now as far as I know, the only real options for REAL speed are the turbo kit or the supra 2Jz-GTE engine swap. Now, what are we looking at cost wise? $10-15K? Not worth 3 seconds off my 60 or 1/4 mile...

I recently changed the intake filter to a K&N one, but I don't know if there was any real performance gain. I'd like to get it dynoed to see how much HP it has after 12 years and 135k miles..I bet nowhere near the original rated 250 @ 4400 RPM..

There are also things to do like the regualar maintenance i.e. changing the spark plugs (which I plan to do soon- Denso iridiums) and other stuff like removing the 70lb. speaker box in my trunk.

Another option would be the complete open flowing exhaust system, which lex400sc (from the SC forums) said helped mostly in 3rd gear. Also we have the torque convertor addition, but I recall a user here having some problems with the TC and the transmission on his first gen.

I want to keep my car, keep the luxury, but the performance is no good. Anyone have any input, it would be greatly appreciated..

You can do the C's compressor kit for around $6000 (plus install) and that will give you 320 HP...

Or sell your 1990 LS400 and get a 1995+ LS400...they have 280 HP engines...'95's can be had for pretty cheap ...around $17000 or so...plus you'd get the 200+ fixes that happened from 1990-1995...and the '95+ looks better IMO with a nicer interior...
