i have someone wanting to sell me a 1996 ls400 with 109000 miles for $7000. that is pretty low mileage. i have a 1997 with 201000 miles. can the odometers be tampered with or is that impossible?

 

Is possible to have that low of miles on a 96. My 92 only has 175K on it now. Like ANY car, the odometer CAN be tampered with, however it takes quite an effort to do so. I would try to get the price lower tho. Seems a bit high for the year and miles.

My 93 ls400 has 119K, do a CarFax and look at the history. You could also take the VIN to lexus and see what they have on it.

 

+1 on the carfax. Also, if you register your vin with lexus.com, in owners section is a very detailed service log and should go all the way back to 93
