Question: What is the crash rating of these LS400's?

On a side note: Have any of you guys seen the show Dumbest drivers or something like that where they show guys running away from cops? On one of them the guy running away from the cop hit another guy head on each going about 60 mph. They caught the whole thing on tape. Pieces flying every where and nothing left of the front ends of either car. Believe it or not the guys in the van did not get hurt and walked away. The guy in the car that was running away from the cops did end up in the hospital. When you see it you think "there is no way anyone survived" but sure enough they all did and with no major injuries (for the guys in the van). Modern cars are an engineering masterpiece.

BTW lots of damage does not necesarily mean unsafe. Cars are engineered to crumble so that energy is absorbed. Remember momentum is Mass X change in velocity. so the slower the change in velocity the better. Of course when it is a side collision you do not want the other car to penetrate unto your lap

Actually momentum = mass x velocity. Impulse is mass times change in velocity.

Go back to high school!

Oh, and they're crumple zones, not crumble zones--Cant help piling on.

I read your postings on the thread about adjusting shifts, Toyota Red coolant flows through your veins, sir.

I will admit spelling is not my strong suit. I have many other imperfections as well so pile it on.

Which brings me to the reason I read this thread to begin with.

I was on my way to work last month and some dingbat in a Volvo rear ended me hard enough to push me 5 to 7 feet into an Accord from a dead stop.

Sadly, the insurance repairs did not net me any new lenses, But I got new oem front and rear bumpers. and new oem exhaust tips I love my collision center.

The airbags deployed in the Volvo, and her grille and lenses smashed, hood buckled. The Accord required a new rear bumper cover. The LS is a TANK.

New bumpers are a resposibility, you should watch me park it.

End of Story...

After many months, I heard from the other party's insurance company concerned about my health injuries. They were very polite. Fortunately, everything seems to be ok now. About a month after their call I received a check in the mail for my deductible of a 1000. About once a week my young son who was with me at the time of the crash says, "...I really like this car..." when riding in the LS430. When I think about it, how could I even think of buying another brand after this one performed so well when I needed it. Seeing some of the other stories in this thread has made me appreciate the Lexus 400 series even more.

Even though I occasionally look, I still haven't found another 430 for the price and features I got on this one. It makes me feel sometimes like an episode of the Twilight Zone, it just happened, and you can't really explain it...

instead of dumb luck, it might even make you think of Jeremiah 29:11
For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.

and you have one....
