Default transmissions

hey guys i had a quick question on the transmissions if the 90-94 trans from an LS400 would work on a 96 LS400?? i blew my trans a while back and i had one from a 91 LS400 was just wondering if it would work thanks.

take them out and lay them side by side. It could be as simple as swapping sensors.

doubtful as the actual transmissions are different, a341e vs. a340e, as well as a gearing differential.

oh, plus wiring the trans into an OBDII '96 will be hell if you dont have the right sensors/harnesses/etc.... on that old trans.

Well..

He can make it work, if he wants to. The most fundamental aspects of the transmissions are the same: bellhousing and case. If he has to swap over the extension housing to make some 95-97 specific sensor fit, so be it. I've seen people mate 4wd A340F transmissions meant for the 3VZ motor to the 1UZ-FE and make it all work with the 1UZ computer. And his most difficult issues wouldn't apply in the thread starter's case.

I for one am keenly interested in the differences between the transmissions. As far as I know, there are two sensor differences, and perhaps a solenoid or valve body difference.
