1991 ls 400 high beam on both sides wont come on
the headlights both work on low beam, but when you put it to high beam both lights would not come on in high beam, dash board shows high beam is on but both sides lights won't come on in high beam
any suggestions
thanks

Has to be a blown terminal out on the bulb itself. The first gen is a dual stage/single bulb. Stage 1 is for low beam, stage 2 is for high beam. If your lows work, and your highs register on the dash as being on, but they are not, the high beam terminal on the bulb itself is blown. Simple replacement of the bulb will fix.

1991 LS400 both sides out
It is April 2023 now, and it was because I thought it was extremely unlikely that BOTH bulbs would blow the same filament that I was reading up on other causes of light failures in these forums.
BUT that is exactly what happened! Both bulbs needed replacing virtually simultaneously.
I decided to try a different brand, but the store only had 4 grades of Sylvania in stock.
Which led me to this discovery:
So there's that! Sometimes you pay more but get less!
Last time there was a bulb out I bought the 2-pack fancier bulbs and replaced both thinking to keep the illumination balanced.
And I replaced both. So they may have burned out right on schedule!
I had saved the OLD still-working bulb and bought one new Basic and all 4 filaments are working again.
Reminded me of this:
