Default HID lighting for 90-94 LS

I'm considering a HID system for my 93 LS... I understand that conversion kits may not be all that great sometimes because the reflectors for halogen headlamp housings are designed for those specific bulbs. In certain cases, if HID kits are used, they will only increase light output but the beams will be so scattered and unfocused, with no distinguishable "cut-off" line. Instead, just causing a bunch of glare for others.

Is this the case for 1st gen LS? Can 1st gen owners that have converted to HID please post some pictures and feeback? where's the cheapest place to buy bulbs and install? THANKS!

I bought the HID conversion kit from e-bay......it is the cheapest place to get a kit. It is in my car for couple of months now and it is very bright. Infact, HID perform ok in the stock housing but I lose the fog light and high beam. I got 6000k and when I compare to my friend BMW 330ci, the color is similar but mine is brighter and also when I compare them to the stock Acura's HID, they looks like a halogen bulb....So I recommend it.

the below picture is what i'm afraid will happen if I install the HID kit in my LS... notice that the light beam is not controlled and scatter everywhere. Sure it lights up things, but pretty random...

I will try to take the picture tonight and I will post it a.s.a.p. Since I lose the high beam and fog light and only drive in the city and major highway, I aim my light a little bit lower. 6000k would be the best one since it is the closest color to the sunlight. My friend have 7000k hid on his Passat and the color is way too blue (but may depend on the bulb). I heard that if you get over 7000k (e.g. 8000k), the color will be too blueist and the vision will not be as good. Most of the shop around here recommend either 5000k or 6000k.

Just a note that the '90-92 LS use a different headlight style than the '93-94. The '90-92 is 9004, and could really use a headlight upgrade due to the lousy headlight design. The '93-'94 is better.

true that...90-92 uses a 9004 bulb application while the 93-94 uses the H4 bulbs

be careful on cheap Philips kits...not all kits are created equal...some of the cheap kits don't use full Philips GERMANY items...sometimes they're Taiwanese junk with Philips stickers on 'em...and some kits come with weak wiring, etc...again, you get what you pay for! Just FYI...

thanks for the warning manaray. Man, now i'm so torn on what to do... I thought 350 was a fair price for a big group buy, but of course I may be wrong. How would I be able to tell if the parts are from Germany or not?
