Anyone else have their rear axle bolts fall out by themselves?
Because I had three of them do that, I found out today.
I JUST got my Megans finally done today, and took it home for a wash. When I got home, I noticed that a large bolt was laying a few feet from my car. I didn't think much of it, and picked it up anyway.
Later, I went for a drive. I got about 10 blocks away, and heard this awful metal-on-metal clanging sound that sounded like someone was beating a triangle really fast. I pulled over immediately and got out to look. I didn't know it at the time, but part #43489C (rear driveshaft washer) was beating against my exhaust. I phoned the shop's owner who put the Megans on, and told him what it was. He said to bring it down anyway.
So I ran back home to get the bolt (thinking now it was nothing severe, maybe just a clamp) and the clanking stopped. More on that later.
Anyway, I got to the shop and we put the car on a lift. We got underneath, and THREE bolts (including the one in my hand) had fallen out of the right rear axle housing. (bolts are part #42330A). On top of that, three more had threaded themselves more than halfway out
For reference:
Anyway, I took my mom's Accord and drove to the location where the clanging had stopped. Alas, there in the road was another bolt and the washer, still attached. I ran these back to the shop. Here's an interesting thing we noticed:
The bolt I found in the driveway had no grease on it. The top and top-right holes where the bolts should have gone had no evidence of grease either. The bolt that was still attached to the washer, as well as the hole where it was housed, had plenty of grease.
This REALLY sucks because I was really looking forward to trying out my Megans after having it in the shop since the 12th. Now it's still in the shop, and I'll have to wait 'till Monday to call a Lexus or Toyota dealer.
Anyone else experience this?

Yeah that's what the shop said they would do...get the new bolts, tighten them as per spec, then loctite them for extra security.
A simple, cheap fix - irritating nonetheless, especially waiting on that tiny part. Hopefully a Lexus or Toyota dealer around here has one in stock.
