Cutting Spring on the LS400
I have a first generation with 19inch wheels, I have lowered it by 1.5 inch front and back with Intrax Spring, but I still think it is too high (still a little bit of fender gap left). I currently have stock shock. Has anyone ever done it on their LS? I did it on my 96 MB C-Class, and it is not that bouncy. Do you think that I will need to change the shock? I thinking 2 coil on the front and 1 coil on the back which would lowered apox. 2 inch more up front and 1inch more on the back. Will it be bouncy? Thanks in advance

I think it will be more boncy, since the intrax springs already have a higher bounce rate. If it bounces too much on your stock shocks, the high bounce rate will wear your stock shocks out within a few months.
By the way pongydoo, what happen to the pics of your car, i cant find the thread anywhere.

If you have stock shocks, don't cut your springs. Soon your shocks will go out and your car will not only be bouncy, it is going to literaly JUMP around. I suggest you get a new set of springs (adjustable coilovers even better) that lower your car 1/2 inch more. Cutting springs is a very ghetto way of lowering your car even among ricers. You'll be better of with getting new springs.
Yeah, post your car man! Interesting.

I remember reading a thread somewhere else about this here...
DO NOT cut your springs, all I can recall is many people warning this guy who wanted to cut his springs about failing shocks, loss of control, and other extemities.
Plus is most cases- and I'm sure the LS (becuase of how long it is) the car will become bouncy.
Go with what retrodrive says :-)
