Default A/C compressor front seal replacement

Hey guy's. My '96 LS evaporator is leaking along with the compressor front seal. Can the front seal be replaced?

If not, what differance is there, if any, between a refurb and new compressor? Shop tells me I need to buy a new compressor because it's leaking but I'd love to just replace the seal but I bet that's only a factory job during a refurb. The shop I took the car to has a new Denso compressor for just over $500. I see some compressors on eBay for $250 with dryer and oil. I think I saw one for $350 with dryer and expansion valve too. What would yall do?

i just reblaced the ac comopressor in my 94 for the second time. the 1st time u bought a used comopressor but that didnt even last me 2 summers i think i payed in the 100's for it. now the second time around i bought a reman comprressor from ebay like u have said for $250, and i just bought another one for my moms rx300.

imo i wouldnt go with just a used compressor id spend the extra $$$ and but a reman comrpessor because u dont know how many miles are on it and what condition its in.
