Progressive Foam Bump Stops
I thought I would share a small discovery with all you non-coilover guys. When you install lowering springs on OEM struts or aftermarket, they recommend cutting the bump stop. I did this and never really thought it was a good idea since it basically means when the strut is compressed under load it will bottom out on the hard bump stop.
I removed the old bump stops and installed these polyfoam bump stops last weekend. I did not cut them. The difference is huge - the foam compresses and progressively adds up to 250 Lbs. at full compression (2' to 2 1/2"). The cut bump stop does the same but it is only when it hits rock bottom and it gives you the big jolt.
I thought it was a decent intervention at $20 per pair. Since I run Bilstein HD's and use lowest perch with H&R's, these are particularly effective - no more hard bottoming out. Here is pic from JC Whitney:
