Top 10 reasons on why NOT to buy an LS430 vs. new 745i
10. Don’t have to say rear was designed for “funcationality” reasons
9. You can’t option your standard memory seats!
8. Does not look like a Dodge Status hybrid
7. It’s not designed by Chris Bangle!
6. Will have to deal with what to buy with that spare $$$
5. Don’t have I-Drive so you’ll have nothing to do during your spare time
4. You won’t meet any new friends that are mechanics
3. It’s not a BMW: Bayerisher Mist Wagen
2. Not powered by Windows !!
1. Not ugly enough to compete with the 7 series!

I find it funny that as a soon to be former BMW owner (once my LS-430 Ultra comes in to replace my 540i) that the company that produces the "Ultimate Driving Machine" invents a driver interface (ie, iDrive) that requires the car to be at a standstill to operate.
You also forgot:
1. The once in a lifetime experience of riding your resale value down like a rollercoaster.
2. The pleasure of walking into the dealership and being treated as though they are allowing you to enter the building
3. The salesman saying to you that "you know this car is really expensive" because you don't fit their customer profile.
4. This is the line that really won me over on the new 7 - "you have to come back tomorrow or something because I can't explain the iDrive to you yet - I don't fully understand it". I asked for my deposit after that one.

I got one serious reason for you on this.
This is a lot of new "BMW Technology" and "German Electronics". Those are 2 reasons you will find quite a few new 7s on the side of a road.

Hehehe...yeah, I heard that two of them die during a magazine test in Europe...
Anyone ever see that MicroSoft Windows 98 demonstration video clip with Bill Gates watching on (as one of his slaves shows the "plug and play" feature of Win98)....as soon as he plugs in the device, Win98 crashes with a BSoD....hehehehe...it's CLASSIC!
The new 7-series does have SOME nice features (like the door hold feature) but I don't know about the i-Drive thing...
I do like the new commerical though (the one where the 7-series driver is describing how ot get somewhere...)

I hate the idrive system. I can't believe car mags and reviewers in general like it..oh wait I forgot. It is a bmw feature so obviously they will eat it up. Silly me.
I think the new 745 is a ncie car but I'd take an LS over it anyday. Same goes for an LS430 vs the S430...I sat in an S430 at the auto show and thought it was very inferior to the LS. The seats were hard and the materials were not LS quality. Talk about paying for a name there.
Sitting in that benz just made me more happy with my LS430 with the UL package

Hahahahaa!!!!
I saw one in the parking lot the other day.
By the time that guy got in the car and actually put it into reverse and drive off, I got my hot chocolate from Starbucks and got in my own car and drove off.
