I recently purchased a 1991 LS400 with 80K miles on it. The car drives great but when going over rough pavement such as down city streets I hear a clunk or rattle which seems to come from the front of the car. I've already swapped out all of the sway bar bushings for poly ones but the problem presists. Any thoughts are greatly appreciated.
I'm located in Marblehed which is near Cedar Point. I needed a good winter driver and found this car on Ebay. It was in Hope IN, and spent winters in Boca Raton, FL.

It may be worn ball joints. I had to replace the lower ones on my '91 at 140K. You may be able to detect worn ball joints using a pry bar to apply force to the tire/wheel/suspension mechanism and looking for suspicious movement at the ball joints. If the idea behind this isn't clear, an Internet search should turn up some sites with a description for the procedure.
The lower ball joints are fairly easy to replace and not too expensive. The upper ball joints are significantly more expensive and somewhat more difficult to replace.
