Default Water spots inside LCD display ?

I know about the ongoing problems with the LCD displays in our cars, but I don't recall ever seeing this. My 98 LS has quite a few whitish colored spots behind the LCD displays for the climate control. Radio has a couple too, but not as bad. The numerals themselves are still very clear, but this milky discoloration makes it difficult to see clearly (in daylight). Can't see any evidence of this at night when there is backlighting.

My car is a very low mileage unit (48K) if that matters. It doesn't appear that the clear covers on these displays can be removed ? I seem to recall reading that these can't be removed or repaired, and that the whole unit has to be R and R'd. True ?

My 99 has a small bug that died in between my temp display, no idea how to free him, dealer says the outside lenses don't come off. How the bug got there is beyond me.
