93 LS400 vs 99 Acura RL ?????
Opportunity to buy a 93 LS400 with 120k miles for about 6k.
Or a 99 Acura RL with nav for about 6k. Mileage = 166k.
Which is better choice? How many miles can I expect to get from these cars with proper maintenance?
Decisions....Decisions....

how are you doin?
well acura rl's are nice cars i had a 99 also but i also had a 93 ls400
the acura was nice and everything but the comfort wasnt there it didnt ride that good felt like a big boat with no power on the other hand the ls400 is a big boat also but it had the power to go and it had everything the acura didnt have
if you do proper maintnance on both id say the lexus will last alot longer than the acura

I have a 98 RL and a 94 LS. I think the styling of the LS and the interior is very nice (although I am in the process of redoing the interior with new leather and the seat comfort stinks on some of the old LS's). I do believe the LS will last alot longer but both cars have a good record and should do the trick with proper maintenance. I would definitely make sure to have both cars checked out for a pre-buyer inspection. I picked up the LS for 3K, but had to put about 7k in (surprise) to play catch up. I like both the acura rl and the ls. I prefer the body style of the LS. The acura runs pretty well for a 6 cylinder and can hold it own. I think it will come down to personal preference but I have to say there are many LS models out there with over 400k and that equates to more time on the road. Just my opinion--hope it helps.

uhhh.....no that's the reason why whoever's selling it is trying to RIP OFF everyone who thinks exactly like that.
Find a decent priced well maintained LS. The RL will not hold a flame to it at all The RL is a v6 that gets HORRID mileage.
The v8 under the hood of the LS is perfect for the size of the car. Which is why some driver's have seen +30mpg out of it
The choice is clear... stick to a Lexus by any means necessary. But if you HAVE to get the RL... it will be a good car. Just (to me) not comparable to an LS!

If you want a nice older acura, look for a 94-95 Legend GS (or LS coupe).
The RL is sort of underpowered and won't feel that special after being in a LS400. Now the 04+ are a different matter...

Yeah - Acura RL is nice but in the end it is a V6 front wheel drive. It is hard to compare to a V8 rear wheel drive vehicle. I remember buying an Avalon in 99 to replace my LS and I sold the Avalon a year later
In the end it is your choice though.

If you don't care about the age of 1 gen LS, go for LS but the one that you are looking at was over priced. Honda is a reliable but not on the tranny. Heard so many problem regarding Honda's V6 auto tranny, especially on the high mileage vehicle.

Thanks for all the input.
Checked out both cars and they were sub-standard.

I have both 93 and 98 LS 400, the 98 is head and shoulders better than the 93.
I believe 98 is first year for the VVTi engine, me thinks I saw somebody post here that 97 was the first year for that motor.
Anybody?? Bueller?
