My 95 LS400 Thread
Hey guys! Old time CL member but a new time LS400 owner!
I just got a 95 LS400 with 120k on the clock for cheap. Black exterior with tan interior. It has some work that needs to be done and it should be a nice little project.
some background info:
- My first lexus was a 95 SC300, light blue silver with black leather, 5sp. Had it for a year. Loved the car and miss it dearly
- sold it after I got married and picked up a new 06 ES330 for the wifey and had it for a year. It was too boring.
- sold it a year later and bought my parents 06 SC430 from them. They got a new 08 LS460.
- We wanted something more "exicting" so sold the SC and got a Mini Cooper S w/ JCW kit. w/o a Lexus in the garage, everyday my heart felt empty inside so I picked up this gem
Why the LS you ask? We already have a sporty-jarr-your-bones-go-cart in our stable (Mini) so I wanted a taste of luxury back in our lives. My parents have a 08 LS460 and it's a masterpiece no doubt but I prefer the classic look of older cars. I always loved the LS400 when it first came out and their stance on the road commands respect IMO. I wanted a project car - something that I can put my sweat and time into building. Something off the shelf for me is too easy and doesn't feel as rewarding as something I built and tuned with my own hands.
My plans? Like many others, I'm going for the VIP look:
- general tuneup for sure
- redo interior leather with new. (it's all ripped inside)
- WALD kit?
- paint the entire car black, including the bottom panels
- 19" or 20" VIP style rims
- conservative exhaust (nothing crazy)
- intake/BFI/K&N filter
- coilovers or eibach/blisten combo
- tint windows
- new red/clear tailights
- little do dads here and there
That's it for now...its as much as my budget and wifey would allow. We have a family body shop so it would make most of the work much easier with the equipment we have.
I'll post up progress pics and the car goes under restoration!

Gorgeous car. I also have a JCW Mini along with my 67, though I am getting rid of my SC JCW for a Turbo JCW later this year.
I also bought a LS last sunday. Check my other thread. I did wheels/exhaust/suspension already.https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=368670
Welcome.
