I am just about to give this car up. I now regret ever seeing this car..I just measured the voltage across the maf connector, its almost 0 volts on everyone, is this normal? can someone check theres and let me know? and also i noticed i heard the exhaust making like a puffing noise every few seconds and when i unplug maf it doesnt do that. one more thing, looks like the guy i got it from has overfilled the tranny, can that make it shift harsh and buck or damage it? i guess i am going to drain some out and replace it with lucas and get the levels right. Anyone's help would be greatly appreciated. thanks everyone.
heres an idea for you i amm great friends with my favorite local import car shop here and i had this problem where at 40 - 55 mph the car would buck baddd and the problem was the spark plugs. 2 of them were cracked right at the porcelian tips where the spark fires. they replaced them with new oem ones, as they highley reccomened sticking with the oem plugs on these cars. and it fixed the problem 100%.
sure, but from what ive read and been told i would stick with 100%oem toyota brand sparkplgs, ive been told the first gens at least are extremely sensetive to other plugs. i replaced my 4000 miles ago and havent had the problem since
So do you think i should get oem then ? do you really think it will help suring? but if it was the plugs it wouldn't go away when maf is unplugged would it? and also, where can i buy the oem ones? Dealer only who makes them and whats the model? thanks man.
Not sure exact number but the oem ones are a bosch plugs id say go to autozone or someplace like that and have them search there computer for a stock replacement for the car. might be differnt than mine since mines a 91 but who knows. id say thats your best bet though man.
When you disconnect the ECT the ECU will assume that your engine is running at normal operating temperature, which is eighty something degrees. So you shouldnt see much change if your engine is indeed properly warmed up and running at normal temperature. On a cold start it might idle rough until it warms up.
