Default 94 LS 400 Starting Problem?

94 LS 400 140k

Recent problem started 2 weeks ago.

First thing in the morning, the car takes a couple of seconds before the starter engages. It is almost like the battery isn't working properly or the connections are corroded but that's not the problem. The problem is the starter doesn't engage properly...

The starter does finally engage and starts the car after 5-7 seconds of cranking. Usually the car just starts right up. This only happens when the car sits for more than 8 hours. Most of the day the car cranks and starts with no problem.

This is NOT THE SAME PROBLEM DISCRIBED BELOW. ANY IDEAS?

I had similar problem for almost a year. I just posted a cure to my problem a couple days ago. I sometimes had to crank for a while and took out and re-insert key or step on gas before I crank again for engine to engage. It turned out that the throttle plates were heavy with grime and gunk that prevented the plate from opening while starting. I had the throttle body disassembled and thoroughly cleaned and de-carbonized. Problem solved.
Hope this helps. You can see my post. It was a long guessing process and I finally had it solved.

Read the entire thread and I don't see how the problem decribed is the same as my problem.

Thanks anyway.

Well, I don't think it's the battery or the altenator. I'm going to take them both to AutoZone and have them tested to see.
