Default Coding a key for early LS 400.

Hi,

A guy I used to work with. Borrowed me the repair manual for LS 400 1992.

I needed it because one of my keys for my LS 400 1993 wouldn't work on the remote button for the doors. It turned out to be "broken inside" when I used a Fluke and Ohm'ed it. So do yourself a favor and do this first. Because if your key is broken you will need a new key and a chip for the control modul for the doors.

But to code a key...

Before work: Take the antenna plug out of the door control modul located in the left side of the trunk.

To code a key: All doors should be closed. Open drivers door. Press lock-unlock button in the drivers door 10 times within 30sec. Then depress the lock-unlock button on the key until the car makes a sound. Open the trunk under the steering wheel and close the drivers door.
In the trunk you take your key and "stick" in into the plug where you took the antenna plug out and depress the button on the key. Be sure not to touch the metal shield of the control modul with the with the key-sword.
