Back after not logging in since 2012!!!!
Hello All,
Yes, six years w/o logging in but time to rectify that. Always found this forum to be helpful w/o the normal forum BS that is sometimes seen elsewhere.
Picked up this little beauty last weekend from a nice elderly couple in SoCal. It's a 2000 LS 400 in Alpine Silver Metallic with two owners, 143k miles and good maintenance. It does need a little catch-up maintenance (TB service) and some TLC, but the price was right at $3,400. I expect to spend about $1,500 over the coming weeks to address all items, but will then have a 100k needs (almost) nothing, awesome car if all goes as planned. With my expected annual mileage, that's 10-15 years of driving.
Looking forward to contributing to this terrific forum and it's good to be back.
Eddie
P.S. Something funny is I checked the spare and it looked brand new in every way, yet has a date code of 1200. Probably never been out of the trunk is my guess.

1998 LS400.244,000 miles.Purchased in Southern California 2/14/18 for 2500 dollars.Extensive service records,all work done by Lexus dealer and techs.Owned by a Lexus Service Manager,3rd owner.1st owner until 2001,2nd until 2012,3rd to present.
Following work done....
Timing belt and water pump replaced (Aisin kit) 20,000 miles ago not due again until 310,000 miles or 7 years from now. New interstate battery, recently replaced alternator, new tires, new strut rod bushings, upper control arms, front struts and mounts, new spark plugs (due every 60k), transmission fluid and engine oil recently serviced.Tranny/diff fluid done every 60K at Lexus. New brake pads and rotors front and rear, new rear wheel bearings, new hood supports.Starter at 95K,Power steering pump at 175K,throttle body 200K.Tranny mount done.Valve cover and cam seals with last timing belt change (Maybe,he paid extra once tech had covers off, thinks it was cam seals)
Im doing motor mounts and coolant temp sensor, will send out ECU for cap fix(currently no issues),and thats it.Will detail with me and wife doing it.She is clean, and runs excellent.I figure minimum 50,000 before anything due (starter money is put away IF),and driving 2000 miles a year on three vehicles should outlast me,Im 62.
Here it is at home...with a color matching Snookie

Yeah it’s wild for sure. I’m gonna have to adjust damping cause previous owner messed with it and it’s not stiff enough. Luckily the roads I drive on are pretty even hahaha. But man was it an adventure driving it home on the freeway with construction happening hahaha

Ten days shy of my first year with this car.
57,700 to 67,345 on the odometer, just under 10,000 miles
0 breakdowns
$10.00 cost for repairs (new belt for the cassette and did a little glue job on the speedo/tach needles)
$50.00 oil and filters
$95.00 or so for some spare relays and doodads and rear carpet for the trunk
Did I mention it was 83* and sunny today when I took this picture in Pensacola FL? Yeah, it was 83* and sunny today.
