Thinking about 18s...thoughts?
Hey bro... I'm in Tacoma, a little south from you...
I'm on Tanabe's and I totally regret it... go from the start and just get the damn coilovers...
when you get the coilovers, then look for rims...
me on 18" Wald Duchatlet and DF210's

I have 235/50/18's on my 93 and I think they are perfect for 3 reasons: great ride quality is maintained ( thats why you drive a lexus, right?), they eat up the fender gap, and I ahve 18x8's with a + 40 mm offset, so they are almost even to the edge of the fender lips. They just BARELY miss the fenders, front and rear, when the suspension is compressed. 20's would destroy the ride quality, and 19" rubber is not economically feasible to replace, so for me this is the perfect size. Plenty of meat on the sidewall, with a perfect offset.
Hey folks,
I always assumed I'd get a nice set of 19's, some coilovers, and drop the car not too aggressively, but my thoughts are starting to change now.
This is my only car, so slamming it is kind of out of the question for me. I live in the middle of downtown Seattle, so the roads are absolute crap out here, and I have to make it up some pretty steep driveways. Not to mention, I even take the car in the snow for ski trips! Also, looking on tirerack at the price of 19" tires makes me go
And since I commute daily, I want to maintain as much comfort as I can. I want to get that blend of decent handling, and still maintain a comfortable ride.
So now I'm rethinking my exterior plans for the car, and this is what it looks like:
- Set of 18s, maybe the 3GS wheels, maybe aftermarket staggered
- Tint
- Megan coilovers with slight drop (mostly for handling)
- HIDs (4300 K)
And I don't think I'll be buying a body kit anytime soon. I just can't justify the cost or practicality. I've got 211K on this car, and I plan to drive it another 4-5 years (till I hit 300K), at which point I'll look into getting something new.
What do you think? Will that be enough to give it the look that I want, or will it be too subtle? Any other thoughts?
