Default I think I have an electrical issue that is beyond simple cluster repair

I have been searching for days but cannot find anyone posting with a similar issue so before telling me to search please read on..

My gauge cluster just like everyone elses, lights comes on and off, speedo needle is slow and fuel is stuck. Easy fix send to Mr. Whizard

However I have noticed that when the cluster does light up, the rest of my dash lights.. A/C and Stereo come to life as well... They are always dark. I figured it was just bulbs but they all turn on only when the cluster decided to turn on.

So now im thinking there could be something else going on and not just the cluster alone. I think that if i send in the cluster and have it fixed it will do one of the following..

1. work just fine but then my dash lights are still dark and dead.
2. will only work when it wants to.. and dash lights follow the cluster when it decides to wake up.

I will post my findings the more i drive the car.. whenever it decides to light up. But I swear that I thought I didnt see the dash lights turn on with the cluster before. This was happening the other day. I have only owned the car for less than a week now

Has anyone encountered this before? It seems to be a combined issue here.

Confirmed today that when my gauge cluster decides to turn on that the rest of my dash lights also turn on.

Anyone?

Mine is the same way. I have NO illumination at a cold start or when its cold outside. Noclimate control, radio, or dash cluster. When it finally blinks to life, everything comes on. I s this the same symptom of just needing the capacitors replaced on the cluster? Or does it have some thing to do with the dimmer? Anybodys knowledge would be helpful.

Ah at least im not alone

Added Issue: Shifter Bulb is burnt out so i replaced with #74 bulb from auto store. Didnt work after two new bulbs. I took to mechanic and he tested a positive current and his machine lit up. STRANGE. Even he tried to install the bulb and it fit just right but no light.

Last ditch efford was to get OEM bulb from dealership. Fit better than aftermarket bulbs but still did not lightup..

Sigh

Your dash lights are tied to your gauge cluster. When you fix that with the capacitor fix in the thread above, the rest of the dash lights will work too.

awesome thanks suneet. It seemed like they were tied in.

So basically after the cluster is sent to mrwhizard and repaired then my dash lights which are tied to my gauge cluster will work as well right?

personally i think paying 100-200 to mrwhizard isnt worth it. parts are like literally 2 bucks and takes like 20-30 minutes tops of your time. u just need someone who is good in soldering.

I'm not sure what the fuel gauge fix is. My fuel gauge isn't "accurate" but it isn't stuck. Speedo is fine though.

I replaced my dash light cap, C212 and fuel gauge cap, C142, Cost me $14.60 for everything including the soldering iron at Radio Shack. Best money I ever spent. Everything works normally.

Same issues with my 93' when I bought it. Sent instrument cluster to Mrwizard, re-installed, and now everything works perfect(HVAC,Speedo,Radio).
