94 LS400 Surges at more than half throttle...
Hi guys
Just got a 94 LS 190k miles on it. Only issue thus far is that the car feels as if its surging if you step on the gas at more than half throttle. If you take it slow and drive it very lightly it wont do that.
Any ideas?
I read something while searching that said it could be spark plugs?

Possibly the Throttle Position Sensor... I also have a 94 with 183k. But mine acts a little strange at 1/4 or less throttle... not surging.. but the power goes up and down a little.. It is just barely noticable. Changin the TPS is not that hard, and you could check it with a OHM Meter... Could also be an air leak somewhere... or also a fuel pressure problem... there are many possibilities.

You might try changing your TPS position...
Before you commit to replacing it, you might try adjusting it slightly.
However, make sure that your idle adjustment is not affected. (There is a small "sweet spot" in the TPS at idle that you can adjust slightly without messing it up) It may improve your engine response.

I was told by several people to open it up and clean the mesh looking part. Its basically very clean. Am I doing something wrong? For the life of me i cannot find any tutorial on what exactly to do. Pics would be great.
Been searching for days, if anyone has directions or diy pics itd be great.

Have you adjusted your TPS yet, just move it 1/32 of an inch either way, without changing the engine RPM, if it makes a difference (fixes it) than your TPS has a wear spot and should be replaced.
Take care.
