Default Stock Carphone help

Nothing in the car manual and i did a search and found nothing on this... I have a 1990 LS400 with a built in phone, when i try to use it says its locked. is there a universal password maybe, do i have to activate it somehow, or did the last owner screw it up for me by locking it with his own password...? I've got no way to get in contact with them so any help would be appreciated!

Just like your own personal phone, last owner probably put in his own lock code. May have to check with a dealer to see if they can unlock for you, so that you can have it activated.

On the fixed phone I had in my 90 LS, the unlock code was something like * plus the last four positions of my phone number.

Has this phone been working but suddenly quit? Is the phone activated in your name? If the phone is not already activated, it is unlikely that any phone company will activate it since analog service will be discontinued shortly (2008).

Cingular recently wanted to give me a free "trial" on a very nice PDA phone but said that I would not be allowed to go back to my current tri-mode phone if I did not like the new one -- because my current phone includes analog as well as TDMA (also on the way out) and GSM.

Agreed--it is highly unlikely that you will be able to activate it, and even so, not for very long.

Although it seems a terrible waste, the best thing to do with it is to remove it from your center console so you have room to use in there.

That and try to use the steering wheel-mounted buttons for other cool features such as radar detector mute, etc.
