...for something relatively so easy, it was a nightmare to finish. Problem being was that the rubber grommet was COOKED, so it was hard and not budging. Eventually, I had to get a pair of broadnose pliers to yank the PCV out. And the PCV hose decided to break too...super glue to the rescue!

The PCV was the original. Amazing. Thank god for that lil baffle that Toyota made when they designed the engine, otherwise I would have been screwed. The bottom half of the original grommet fell in there, and I had to break it up and yank it out piece by piece. I'm pretty sure I got all the pieces out, but I'm worried that some minuscule piece in there will rear its ugly head later.

I've also got the nasty rear main seal leak, I've used to treatment oil to patch it up, I'll let you guys know but I doubt its going to work. Any tips other than fixing it and using 10W oil?

 

thats why i WD-40'd mine to death for a day before i attempted that on my old LS

i just replaced my PCV hose, it is just a piece of vacuum line after all >.>

 

Auto-RX is the only product I would use to attempt to fix or slow an oil leak before actually repairing it if need be.

Crap, I used this already...Auto RX? Well, if this one doesn't work, we'll find out. I also used some Seafoam before the oil change, so that did a good job of cleaning house...

I sprayed WD-40 galore all over the PCV...trust me, LOTS...and the bugger wouldn't budge.

 

I'm not familiar with that product so I can't really comment either way, or as to whether or not it's good or bad for your engine. However, Auto-RX has been used by many, including myself, with satisfactory results. I used it in my old car and it slowed an oil leak considerably. Seafoam may clean, but Auto-RX cleans and reconditions.
