Time for new struts? Price and shopping list
I'm ready to replace my struts because of the way the car reacts to every single bump. It only has 50k, but I have a feeling age is a factor, not just mileage. I've decided to go with OEM instead of KYB's because I want to do everything possible to get the original ride.
Question #1: What would be the shopping list for a strut replacement? So far, I have:
Question #2: Can somebody please list the part #'s for the above items?
Question #3: Where would be the best place to purchase OEM parts besides the local stealer? I tried contacting Sewell Lexus 2 days ago but have not heard back yet.
Thanks in advance for any and all responses.

- (4) struts
- shock mounts
- strut rods (might as well since it's all taken apart anyway)

go KYB, ive ridden in a completely OEM car and a KYB car and the ride is almost identical. i cant say it is 100% since the kyb car wasnt on the best of roads.
u dont need to replace the shock mounds, for a car thats barely 6 years old it isnt really required.
call carson toyota.

You're probably right about the shock mounts, but they are a recommended repair when replacing struts. I compare it to replacing the water pump when you're doing the timing belt... doesn't need it, but why pay for repairs twice.
Since the car has an extended Lexus warranty, the dealer said that he'll replace the strut rods
Sewell Lexus still has not gotten back me... checked my spam filter too.

Just ordered upper control arms from Darrel at Sewell yesterday. I have never had such great customer service. His responses were super fast. He made sure they shipped same day so I would have them by Friday. Awesome Service!!!
The only other thing you might look at is new Strut Boot w/Bumper Kits. On a newer car like that I am sure yours are in good shape. I know when I replaced my struts and springs the boots were almost completely gone.
I happen to agree with Pure that the KYBs are very close to stock feel. Not sure I would be able to tell the difference in a side by side with new OEM vs. new KYBs. Just my .02
Good luck!
