Default Strange steering issue with the LS today

The car seems fine right now, but earlier today I was idling in a mall parking lot, not even giving it gas, and I was probably in it for about 10 minutes...just circling, but then I realized the steering got super hard. NO idea why. So I did my best to pull into a row, NOT EASY, and check my instrument cluster for lights...sure enough I had them. I had the check engine light, and could have sworn the battery light was on too. I gave it some gas, but I didnt feel it pickup after I pulled off, so I shut the car off, and restarted it....ran fine?! No lights, nothing. Its been fine for the passed 6 hours now. Anyone know what that could be? I hope my pump isnt going bad, that seems to be a costly repair. The fluid was good, so that's not an issue. Any help would be great, thanks guys.
