Side view of the shifter. Notice the broken plastic clip.

The other side of the finished product. There is a few little other things I left out like the wiring diagrams and the areas to grease up underneath the upper plate.

Thumbs up

SUNeet,
All you need is a shifter from a 95-97 LS ($150) as well as a shifter from a 90-94 LS ($75). Lots of patience will be needed, however you will be fine. The hardest part was cutting down the shaft to the right length and screwing it back together at the right angle. I am sure that we can perfect this method.

I am currently rebuilding a tranny I have in the garage. I just finished installing another set of HID (bixenon), and I am set on Supercharging the engine very soon. Good luck with all your projects. By the way, I live in texas, but I am from California and so is my car

Ca12los69 thank you for sharing all the pictures and information. All I need to do now is find a gated shifter and give it a try.

My friend locally had a 2000 with factory air. Another local friend's father has a 99 with OEM air. Anyway Ca12los69, you the man. Good work. I always wondered how those gated shifters work. Fortunately mine already has it, but this is good info for anyone else that wants to try this mod.

Man, I must be the only person who hates the gated shifter. I wish mine had a normal shifter.

i see your point somewhat but i totally see why the SC guys do this, its a helluva lot better than the OEM *****-matic that comes with those cars

Ca12los69, is your car equiped with air suspension? If not maybe you can hook up the overdrive to the suspension button!

When I have more time I'm going to attempt this mod. Make sure you post pics of your HID setup... I'm really interested in that as well. And if you start seeing your super charger project... let me know. I'd be interested in making that happen on my car too =)

Here is a pic of the HID's.
I replaced my first set of HID's(hella ballast and bulbs of a benz) because I didn't have high beams with them.out

I went cheap this time and got some ebay set. 6000K High/ low beams which was what I really needed driving at night a lot.

Check it out.
