Has anybody ever changed the color of the bulbs on the back of the guage pods. I would love to have all entire guage pod lavenderish or Ice Blue color.

Thing is they arent bulbs. The closest way I can describe them is to call them florescent tubes.

Why would you want to change the color? The Lexus optitron system is great as is and is very much imitated.

I believe you have to replace the whole panel...not cheap...personally, if it were me, I'd opt for a JDM 300 km/h replacements by C's or Mine's...

Hey Edogg. If the tubes are just flourescent bulbs, the cheapest, easiest and most likely only way to change the color is with colored gel. It's the plastic sheet that you put in front of lights for stage shows and concerts and stuff. Rosco is one of the biggest suppliers but there is also Lee and Gam. Just order a sheet of that, wrap it around the tube and tape it up with scotch tape, works great. I do this all the time for stage work and stuff. I'm gonna do this for the lighting in my car. Colored bulbs are just too expensive and don't have the range of colors offered for gel. You can get a sheet of gel 2' by 3' for the cost of one pair of polarg vip bulbs. That sheet should be enough to do the whole car too. If you do it right no one will know you've got gel and not colored bulbs and you've got a range of over 200 colors too.

From looking at the pics that Manaray just posted,it looks like the guage pod is all clear and the reason for the different colors is becuase of the tubes.

In the future i will research Fusionman79 idea of the tubes and just putting different colors on them.

I'd go ahead and try the color idea and report the results if someone could tell me how to get the cluster out and get at the lights.

I am not sure is lexus uses the same technology as custom indigo gages for other cheaper imports, but if so, there is a way to change the colour by a "CP Digital Converter ".

Default LS 400 instrument cluster lighting

I found you can order the 2 tubes for your instrument cluster to install yourself. Toyota calls these CATHODE TUBES . The part # for the Tach face is 83119-50130.The speedo side obviously is a different number but probably close. Cost only about 50 bucks each if you dont mind doing it yourself!! I changed mine after pulling the cluster for the first time (not that hard to do) maybe 2 hours total and a lot more gratifying than paying the dealers 69.00 hourly rate (locally)
