im not satisfy with my bilstien and tanabe either im ridin on 20z. i think im going change it to the lower perch and see what happens. hopefully it tucks everything.

I lowered my Bilstein's to the lowest perch with H&R's and got between 1/2 and 1". It still won't lower it like coil overs though. Too bad Megan's weren't available when I bought my setup.

I've searched and searched... I promise. ... and I still have a couple questions

There seems to be so much info/confusion on wheel size/width vs. offset vs TIRE SIZE vs. LS generation.

I guess I'm mainly worried about spending 2K on new wheels and tires only to find that the offset isn't right.

I have decided to get 19's on my '96 LS and I want a nice tight look without the worries of SIGNIFICANT rubbing or damaging my tires. A little rub at full turn or hitting a bump with a full car is understandable. I don't want 20's and I don't want 18's.

I plan on installing Tanabe DF210 springs first which will lower the car about 1.5 to 2". I like the look of the cars that have used these on this site. Looks tight without being too overkill.

The 19" wheels I'm looking at come in 8" (with 20, 35 & 45 offset) and 9.5" (35 offset only) widths.

Tire size is another BIG issue concerning fit and look.

All you guys who get the new big wheels and get it right with all these options are amazing.

Can anyone help a guy out? I would really appreciate your advice and your time! Thanks in advance!

for front, i would do the 8 with +20.

not a great size, but best out of the options.

you should be able to fit a 9 with 0 offset in the front, if i did my research right.

the 19x8+35 will rub a TINY bit if u run a fatty tire.
the 20 will require full roll.

no way you're going to fit a x9 +0 in the front, i had to full roll on my x9 +30

So you're saying the 8+35 will rub a tiny bit up front AND in back?

If so, what size tires (front and back) would you suggest? I wouldn't need a "fatty" tire.

Just something functional, that looks good and will prevent excessive rubbing.

rear will be fine, FRONT will rub.

rear the 9.5 PROBABLY wont rub but not sure since im alot more aggressive. my old 18x8.5 +35 with massive fatty tires didnt rub in the rear.

I have a 95 with:

18 x 8.5 with 245/40/18 - 35mm offset front - no spacers
18 x 9.5 with 285/35/18 - 35mm offset rear - no spacers

I realize you are installing 19's but with my 35mm offset I had to trim my rear fender wells within 1/8" inch to fit the 285's. The fronts do not rub with my new 245 Toyo Proxes but they did a little with my 245 Nitto NT 555's. Don;t know why they don't since they are the same size.

It depends on the look you are going for - it sounds like you want an aggressive look without trimming/rolling the fenders. The 35's with thinner tires could give you a good look without having to modify the fenders.

Puredrifter: You said the FRONT will rub. Is that just at full lock, under heavy braking or what?

Just so you know with my 35mm offset 18"s and 245/40's the tires rubbed when I hit a dip or a bump but rarely in turns. I trimmed the fenders 1/8" and now they are fine. If I had 225 or 235's I don't think they would rub though.

Even if you buy a similar set up and have to roll/trim it is inexpensive to do though.

You guys mention 'rolling fenders' alot. I can't picture it in my head. What do you do when you are rolling fenders?

It sounds like a manual job,.. What tools are you using, what are you doing?


Also, doesn't the LS come with 45mm offset standard?

With this offset that means the wheel is 45mm to the inside of the body panel, or pushed out that far?

When you change to 35mm you are pushing the wheel out (but 10mm less than factory I assume?)

I've noticed on stock, the wheels are too far in on the wheel wells. So would a higher offset push the wheels out, for a more agressive look? (Or am I mistaking offset for spacers.. if so explain the difference please )
