Gas Mileage
Been playing around with the idea of doing an electric fan conversion, thinking it might reduce some parasitic loss and free up some ponies all while reducing the load on the engine, thus getting better gas milage.
However I did a search on electric fans and came back with topics related to the SC400. From the quick glances of those threds, I gathered that the SC400's belt driven fan system is fairly efficent and not worth the hassle to convert to an electric fan set up. However, those threds were a few years old, and gas prices back then were way lower. Flash forward to 2005 with prices at an average of $3.05 for 91 octane california **** water, and the electric fan conversion seems a viable option.
I am not sure if the sc and ls 400 use the same clutch assy. for the belt driven fan, but this seems like it might increase gas milage for not much coinage.
has anybody here done this to their LS? if so, what were the results?
TIA
