Car won't start after LS400 Alarm went off - ideas?
I have a 1990 LS400 of which the automatic lock button only works sometimes. Right now however my problem is that the alarm went off and it has disabled the car from starting. It been over 30 minutes and I thought it might just recycle to be able to start, no luck.
Since the button on the key doesn't work all of the time I haven't been able to try locking and unlocking with the key button. any suggestions?
I have 310,000 miles on it so I guess it about time something went wrong.
thx

Agreed ,get out close the door
Lock the car with teh key and then open it,that should disable the flashing red light on the dash and the starter lock out.
If not disconnect the battery for a minute and try again.

I had the same thing happen on my 92 the other day after kids turned lights on and ran the battery down. I then pulled the battery cables and cleaned off the poles and cable before I recharged it. After charging, I had power but nothing would happen when I turned the key. The car must have thought I was trying to steal it. As said above, I opened and closed the door and locked and unlocked it with the key in the door and then it started just fine.
Glad to hear the miles on your car...I will be very pleased if mine makes it that high.
Respectfully,
Macc

Problem solved
Thanks for the suggestions. unfortunately the key locks were gummed up so the key would not go in. We ended up replacing the battery in the key and then locked and unlocked the car and it started.
Interesting to note is that Lexus service told me that it would cycle around on its own after 10-15 mins and then just put the key in the ingnition. That did not work.
Nevertheless we are going again.
