Default Is '98 LS400 "generation two"?

Is the 1998 LS400 considered a "generation two" in the discussions I read? I noticed one--the Mighty Lift fix for the hood supports--is for generation one and two's...

Technically it is considered a 2nd gen, although some may consider it a 3rd gen.

It's a Generation 2 but in Japan I think the call the Ls4/Celsiors by
1st Generations

90-92--UCF10
93-94--UCF11

2nd Generations

95-97--UCF20
98-00--UCF21

3rd Generations

01-03--UCF30
04-05--UCF31

Lexus calls it a 3rd gen on its website, but most call it a second gen since its built on the second generation frame.

Since so many people ask this question I wrote this article: http://www.lexls.com/info/lsgenerations.html

It's a second gen, series IV LS400

Thanks for the article, I do think I've been on your site. The speedometer has not changed alot has it. But I think it's cool how it lights up all day long.

In my book, it a Gen 2-1/2. Too much like the Gen 2 in terms of interior and the entire body minus the headlamps, yet with the newer wheels, tranny and 290 hp VVTi engine, far too different from the Gen 2.
